Medicare rebates available
As an endorsed midwife, Chelsea holds a Medicare Provider Number. All postnatal telehealth consultations attract a Medicare rebate — most families pay just $20 out-of-pocket per session after claiming. The antenatal education session is a private fee of $150, with no Medicare component.

Common questions
What is an endorsed midwife?
An endorsed midwife has completed a minimum of 5,000 hours of clinical practice and holds additional prescribing qualifications. This earns them a Medicare Provider Number and PBS Prescriber Number — meaning Chelsea can refer for pathology, prescribe within her scope, and bill Medicare directly on your behalf. This is different from a doula or a standard midwife.
Do I need a GP referral to see Chelsea?
No referral is needed. You can book directly with Chelsea as a privately practising endorsed midwife.
How do I claim my Medicare rebate?
After each postnatal session you'll receive an itemised receipt with the MBS item number and Chelsea's provider number. You can claim instantly through the Express Plus Medicare app, Medicare Online, or at a Services Australia office. Most rebates are deposited within 1–2 business days.
Can I do video or phone for my postnatal sessions?
Yes — postnatal check-ins can be video or phone depending on what suits you that day. Chelsea will select the appropriate MBS item based on the modality and session length. The Medicare rebate is the same for both.
What if I need more than five postnatal sessions?
Additional sessions are available as clinically needed, billed at the same schedule fee + $20 model. There is no Medicare limit on postnatal attendances by an endorsed midwife, provided they are clinically relevant.
Is the $150 deposit refundable?
The $150 antenatal education session fee is non-refundable, as it also secures your place in the postnatal package. If you need to reschedule, please give at least 48 hours notice and we will find another time.
Can I add hypnobirthing to my package?
Yes — the hypnobirthing program can be booked as a standalone or alongside the antenatal and postnatal package for your full pregnancy-to-parenthood experience. It is delivered as a private program and is not Medicare-rebatable.
